Market assessment for the development of Freight Village adjoining Balagarh, Kolkata

Balagarh Island is located on the Inland Waterway-1. Shifting of part cargo at Balagarh would also create a need for developing a support logistics eco-system around the location. The development of a freight village adjoining Balagarh is being considered. The proposed freight village would complement Balagarh & Kolkata Port and would not only help in facilitating connectivity to states of UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal but would also support in developing industrial and manufacturing base in the region.
