Transforming Logistics: Sustainable Solutions for India’s Warehousing and Supply Chain

ASSOCHAM | April 2025

2025 is emerging as a defining year for India’s logistics and warehousing sector, as multimodal infrastructure, digital innovation, and sustainability imperatives converge to transform the national freight landscape. Backed by policy anchors like the National Logistics Policy and PM Gati Shakti, and driven by investments in MMLPs, cold chains, and smart warehousing, the sector is entering a phase of strategic acceleration.

This evolution—from a cost center to a value-driven asset class—is attracting global investors seeking ESG-aligned, scalable platforms. Warehousing automation, green logistics, and last-mile delivery networks are especially drawing interest, supported by strong demand across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

Yet, challenges persist. Infrastructure fragmentation, regulatory complexity, and inconsistent adoption of technology continue to slow seamless integration. Addressing these hurdles will be essential to unlocking the sector’s full potential.

As India advances toward the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, 2025 represents a critical inflection point—one that can define the emergence of a resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive logistics ecosystem.
